In collaboration with Ratana Mahal Education Care Group, a local NGO working on children’s education and child rights, UNESCO is organizing a training of trainers on “Connections: Empowering Women to Talk about Sexual and Reproductive Health” from 30 April - 3 May 2013 in Yangon, Myanmar.
Connections is an adolescent and parent programme that helps girls, boys and their mothers to become more confident and comfortable talking about gender, relationships and sex.
Objectives of the training:
• To promote integration of sexual and reproductive education in activities targeting women
• To strengthen the capacity of local NGO and CBO to address the HIV specific needs of women and girls;
• To provide with confidence, knowledge and skills to educate young people about HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health; and
• To strengthen women’s capacity to talk about sexual and reproductive health and to prevent adverse reproductive health outcomes
Participants:
Total 34 participants, from different local NGOs and community based organizations from different geographic areas across the country, will attend the training. They are members of NGO child right working group, non-formal education working group, Myanmar NGO Network and women self-help groups.
