This interactive activity was held in the Viet Nam Museum of Ethnology (VME) as a part of the series of interactive events related to the “As We Grow Up” exhibition. The discussion panel included three experts: two from the live radio program “Windows of love” by the Voice of Vietnam, Dr. Nguyen Thi Mui and youth psychologist Hoang Thuy Hai, and Dr. Ha Huu Toan, from UNFPA.
Many of the young participants bravely expressed their curiosity on having new experiences concerning relationships and sexuality and their concerns of not knowing how to behave in these circumstances: What should be done when involved in a romantic relationship at 17 and schools grades are going down? What are the consequences and effects of an abortion? How to deal with a former romantic partner after breaking up? The experts provided guidance and information as a part of a fruitful exchange. “This session has equipped attendants with useful knowledge about love, sex and gender so they can make important decisions and overcome difficulties and obstacles in life” noted Ms. Sun Lei, UNESCO’s Education Programme Coordinator.
The session was made possible by the Vietnam Volunteerism Information and Resource Center (VVIRC) of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in collaboration with UNESCO and the Viet Nam Museum of Ethnology.
The exhibition “As We Grow Up” has allowed young people to be actively involved in the entire preparation process and was organized as a joint effort between the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU), the Vietnamese Museum of Ethnology (VME) and the One UN in Viet Nam with UNESCO as the lead agency.

The next interactive session of “Windows of Love Offline” will be held at the VME on the occasion of Valentine’s Day in February 2014. The exhibition will continue to be presented until April 2014.
