UNESCO Beijing Office recently published the Chinese version of the Monitoring and Evaluation Guidance for School Health Programs In support of the framework of FRESH (Focus on Resources on Effective School Health).
This M&E Guidance is based on the internationally agreed FRESH fram
ework and draws on the wide range of school health-related M&E guidance from all health fields. It was developed between 2008 and 2013 by FRESH partners (the FRESH M&E Coordinating Group and thematic experts, overseen by a broader FRESH M&E Advisory Board) representing 12 international agencies.
The M&E Guidance is targeted at governments and organizations in low- and middle income countries intending to use this document to develop a national self-assessment tool to monitor and evaluate their school health programs. It is also intended for program directors and managers to use this broad guidance to develop specific questionnaires for their assessments.
With its set of recommended core and thematic indicators, the FRESH M&E Guidance intends to help programs ensure their implementation is more standardized and evidence-based and will allow easier comparative benchmarking and monitoring across countries. Additionally, it is hoped that this M&E Guidance will help lead to better coordination between programs and the priorities they address and ultimately contribute to better health and education outcomes.
